Hair loss, or baldness, occurs mostly to people at the old age.
This leads to more and more people in needs of hair loss treatment.
The reality is in U.S., 30% of people at the age of around 30 years are experiencing hair loss.
At the age of 50 years old, around half of people starts losing hairs.
The reason of hair loss is because the shedding rate surpasses the regrowth rate. It can be temporary or permanent.
The impermanent hair loss is induced by diseases or illnesses, such as cancer or medical treatments, low protein diets, stress, thyroid diseases, fungus infection of the scalp, high fever, flu and chronic illness.
Meanwhile, the permanent hair loss are caused by hormonal alterations. This includes childbirth and birth control pills.
To prevent, it is suggested to do regular medical check up at the age of over 30s. Another alternative is to apply hair loss drugs, such as Propecia.
The drug works by blocking the transitions of testosterone into a related hormone, dihydrotestosterone which can shrink hair follicles.
But, this drug cannot be consumed by pregnant women because it may cause birth defects in the urinary and genital organs of male fetuses.
Of all of the hair loss causes, the one that must be taken care of quickly is the hair loss caused by scalp ringworm as it is contagious.
According to the University of Virginia Health SystemScalp,
"Ringworm is highly contagious, especially among children. It occurs mainly in children between the ages of 2 to 10."
While, some of the rest hair loss might be caused by hereditary factor (genetic factor).
